How to respond if the prospective guest pushes you off to a “PR person” or a “marketing person”

Send this response if someone tries to push you off to their PR person…

Hey NAME – thanks for offering to connect me with your PR person about being a guest on my podcast.

If you are interested, let me know and we can coordinate directly.

Briefly, I’ve been podcasting since 2011 and I’ve interviewed 500+ CEOs, founders, entrepreneurs, including the founders or CEOs of Activision Blizzard, YPO, EO, Lending Tree, Open Table, and ACT! Software; and business leaders such as Peter Diamondis, Guy Kawasaki, Overstock.com President Stormy Simon, Gary Vaynerchuk, etc.

I’ve interviewed hundreds of YPO, Vistage and EO members.

In short, it’s an amazing network and often I am able to introduce my guests after the interview to another prior guest which often leads to a collaboration, strategic partnership or even a new business.

In my experience, PR reps and marketing reps fail to see the value in this, which is why I work directly with my guests or their support staff to schedule.

So, happy to work directly with you or an assistant to coordinate a time to speak if it is of interest – if not, that’s fine too and I can respect that.
